John H. Stratton's Obituary
John H. Stratton, 70, of Mediapolis, Iowa formerly of Clinton passed away Saturday October 8, 2022, at his home.
Visitation will be from 12:00 (Noon) until the service time at the funeral home Thursday, October 13, 2022, at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Funeral Services will be 1:00 pm. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Camanche directly after the funeral.
John Henry Stratton was born September 17,1952 in Missouri, the son of Willis and Florence (Roberts) Stratton. He married Penny Hullinger on November 1,1975 in Clinton, Iowa. John worked as a boilermaker in Local 83, as a welder and rigger in many power plants. John retired in 2007.
He enjoyed being outside, loved to fish, camp, mow his lawn with his zero-turn mower, gardening, and helping as many people as he could. He was a good neighbor and enjoyed time spent with his family especially his grandchildren. He loved teaching and spoiling all the kids as much as possible.
John is survived by his wife Penny Stratton of Mediapolis; two children: Don (Diana) Ammon of El Paso, Texas and Tammy (Tony) Mejias of Severn, Maryland; grandchildren: Audrey (Bud) Morgan, Bridney Brigette, Michael Basden and Lancelot Basden; one great granddaughter Riley Morgan; siblings: Bob (Joyce) Stratton, Linda (Michael) Kann, Willis Stratton and Mike (Diana) Stratton; and many, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and 2 brothers: Jimmy Stratton, Tom Stratton and sister Janie Coen.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family.
