John William Dolan's Obituary
John William Dolan, 90, of Clinton, Iowa, passed away Saturday, March 28, 2015 at his home.
A Funeral Mass will be at held 10:30 AM, Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Clinton. Visitation will be held from 5 PM to 7:30 PM, Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Sean Ketelsen, Joshua Dolan, Kyle Dolan, Adam Schmidt, Ben Ketelsen, Breten Dolan and Ryan Dolan.
John was born October 17, 1924 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of John Spencer and Bertha (Brauer) Dolan. He was a 1942 St. Mary’s High School graduate. John married Audrey Adler on April 21, 1947 in Clinton; she preceded him in death December 11, 2014.
He was a WWII United States Army Air Corps veteran.
He was employed as a supervisor at DuPont for more than 32 years, retiring in 1982; he was previously employed with Little Audrey Trucking.
John was a member of Prince of Peace and was a very devoted Catholic. He enjoyed golf, bowling, traveling, was a very avid Notre Dame Fighting Irish fan and big supporter of St. Mary’s Basketball. Most importantly John was very devoted to his wife and family.
Survivors include his children, John (Linda) Dolan of Madison, WI; Stephen (Janice) Dolan of Bettendorf; Cynthia (Paul) Schmidt of Lodi, WI; Michelle (Garry) Ketelsen of Lancaster, OH; William (Mary) Dolan of Fulton, IL; Timothy (Hallie) Dolan of Clinton and James (Susan) Dolan of Morton Grove, IL; grandchildren, Ryan, Stephanie, Joshua, Kyle, Adam, Nicki, Sean, Andrew, Anna, Ben, Brycen, Breten, Caitlyn, Brendan, Audrianna and Colin; Great-grandchildren, Peighton, Gavin, Hannah, Andrew, Bode, Donovan and Carley and sister, Patricia Goettsch of Clinton.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Tom and Billie Frank.
