John Alan Cooper's Obituary
John Alan Cooper, 76, of Clinton, passed away Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at his home in Clinton. Funeral Services will be 12:00PM, Noon, Friday, May 7, 2021 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory. Burial will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Cooper, Kameron Troxel, Chuck Woelever, Fred Straw, Ken Freking, and Kevin Freking. John was born March 23, 1945 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of William B. and Imogene (Smith) Cooper. He was a United States Navy veteran and served in the Iowa National Guard. He married Lucille G. Stevens May 22, 1967 in Clinton; she died September 22, 2020.
He had been employed at DuPont for more than 26 years, retiring in 1995.
John was a lifetime member of the AMVETS, Fulton VFW and Eagles Club as well as a member of the American Legion in Kansas and the Disabled American Veterans.
Survivors include his children: Scott (Maria) Cooper of Topeka, Kansas and Ginger Cooper of Clinton, Iowa; seven grandchildren; JayDee Cooper, Sierra Manis, Michelle Cooper, Brittany Cooper, Melissa Cooper, Michael Cooper, Bianca Cooper; three great grandchildren; brother, Larry Cooper of Albany, IL; and sisters, Billie Jean Worley and Linda Troxel both of Clinton.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his son, William Dee Cooper; brothers, David and Roger and his parents.
