Joan Sorensen passed away September 15, 2019 in Clarissa Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf after a brief illness. She slept away peacefully surrounded by her loving family.

Joan’s passion in life was her family. She was the leader of her family and the rock that kept them together. Joan lived life to the fullest. She and Don raised their five children in a home filled with fun and laughter including summers boating on the Mississippi and winters snowmobiling. Her home was always open to all and her heart was full of love. She was always available to provide guidance to her family and was a strong woman admired by all. There was never a dull moment when she was around.
In addition to raising her family she assisted her husband in running Sorensen Homes, the premier residential construction company in Clinton for many years.
She is survived by her children Donna Sorensen (Kris Westphal) of Iowa City, Debbie Ketelsen (Bob) of Clinton and Ken Sorensen (Sue) of Wayzata, Minnesota; daughter-in-law: Beth Wirtz of Phoenix, Arizona; a son-in-law: Kevin Determan of Clinton, Iowa as well as fourteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
