Jerry D. Meier's Obituary
Jerry D. Meier, 70, of Clinton, formerly of DeWitt, passed away, Friday, June 12, 2026 at Addington Place – Clinton
Memorial Services will be 11:00am, Monday, June 22, 2026 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Visitation will be from 10:00am to the service time at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery with military honors being conducted by the United States Army.
Jerry Dean Meier was born on October16, 1955, in Calamus, Iowa, the son of Vernon and Laura (Beste) Meier. He was a 1973 graduate of Calamus High School. He would later enlist in the United States Army in 1974 and serving as an MP for 34 years and 10 months. He married Janell Botwell in 1989; they would divorce in 2021.
In addition to his service to his country, he would serve as a police officer on the Rock Island Arsenal. He was an avid Green Bay Packer and Iowa Hawkeye Fan and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Jerry is survived by his children: Dawn Jones of Clarksville, Tennessee, Thomas (Tiffany) Meier of Clinton, Allison Meier of Indiana, and Christopher Meier of Indiana; 8 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter, and his girlfriend: Sharon Rickertsen of Low Moor. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother: Ken, and his sister: Diane.
