Jed Rogis' Obituary
Jed Jeremiah Rogis, 19, of Clinton died Saturday, July 23, 2011 as a result of an automobile accident near Miles, Iowa. A Celebration of Jed's life will be held on Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at 6:00pm at Northeast High School gymnasium. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00am Thursday, July 28, 2011 at Prince of Peace Parish in Clinton. Visitation will be Thursday from 9:00am until the service hour at the church. Burial will be in Elvira Cemetery. Palbearers will be Ethan Daehler, Nate Smith, Jared Rodewald, Evander Hart, Marty Hansen, Sam Rogis, Ryne Lingle and Shawn Swanton. Honorary pallbearers will be Ace Diedrich, Jordan Moore, Austin Stahl, Mike Alexander, Tanner Kleppe, Kody Krogman, Taylor Kleppe, Ryan Krogman, Justin Sparks, Jordan Howe, Baron Loots, Tyson Schroeder, Dan Heiar and all of Jed's many close friends. Jed Jeremiah Rogis was born on August 8, 1991 in Clinton, the son of Gregory Lee and Suellyn (Schmidt) Rogis. He was a 2010 Northeast High School graduate. He was currently a full time student at Kirkwood Community College enrolled in their welding program. He was employed with Schmidt Valley Farms and also at Seeser Storage Systems. He was a member of the Catholic Church. Jed enjoyed boating, water and snow skiing, four wheeling, fishing and welding. He was active in Geno's, Clinton and Camanche Softball leagues, CAAC Basketball League, Kirkwood Intramural sports, foosball and golf. He loved being with his family and friends and socializing with his community (Mayflower). He is survived by his mother: Suellyn (Dennis Dever) Rogis of Clinton; siblings: Lee (Ashlee) Rogis, Lucas, Jacob and Carlie Dever, all of Clinton; grandmother: Joanne Rogis of Clinton; grandfather: LaVern "Bud" Schmidt of Clinton; aunts and uncles: Rod (Cindy) Schmidt of DeWitt, Barb (Tom) Trenkamp of Preston, Joan (Larry) Roling of Preston, Karolyn (Doug) Henningsen of DeWitt, Duane (Annette) Schmidt of Clinton, Don (Karen) Schmidt of Clinton, Robyn (Deb Diedrich) Rogis of Bryant, Traci (Steve) Lingle of Clinton and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his father Greg, grandmother Emma Schmidt, grandfather Gary Rogis, and cousin Carl Roling. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for a scholarship to be set up in Jed's name.
