Jeanette Behrend's Obituary
Jeanette A. Behrend, 98, of Clinton, Iowa, died Tuesday at the Alverno. Mass of the Christian Burial will be 10:00AM Saturday, October 16, 2010 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Visitation will be Friday, October 15, 2010 from 4:00PM to 6:00PM at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory, where a 5:30PM parish vigil service will be conducted. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Jeanette was born August 18, 1912 in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Thomas and Mary Agnes (Judge) Scanlan. She was a 1930 St. Mary’s High School graduate. Jeanette married Lawrence E. Behrend on December 27, 1943; he died April 11, 1984. Jeanette had been manager of the King Korn Stamp Store, was employed at Jane Lamb Hospital and was a ward clerk in Clinton, she retired in 1977. She was a member of Prince of Peace Parish, Prince of Peace Auxiliary, Samaritan Hospital Auxiliary, Daughters of Isabella and was a National Right to Life member. Survivors include many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and four sisters. Memorials may be made for the Alverno, Masses, or National Right to Life.
