Jay Determann's Obituary
Jay A. Determann, 57, of Clinton, died Sunday at his home. A gathering in Jay’s memory will be from 4:00-7:00pm Friday, December 11, 2009 at Garner Hall 304 9th Avenue in Camanche. Food and drinks will be provided. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements. Jay Allen Determann was born on March 18, 1952 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Andrew and Grace (Evers) Determann. Jay was a 1970 graduate of Camanche High School. He also attended diesel mechanic school in Colorado. Jay was a diesel mechanic with Determann Industries for 30 years. Jay was an avid conservationist who enjoyed planting trees, creating habitat for wildlife, and spending time on his farm with his children. Jay is survived by two sons; Cory (Kate) Determann of Clinton and Jake Determann of Minneapolis, Minnesota; one daughter: Molly Durbin of Camanche; one grandson: Will Lucas Determann; four sisters: Dianne (Richard) Phinney of Davenport, Julie (Harlo) Henningsen of Bettendorf, Joan (Charles) Gifford of Camanche, Barbara Determann of San Francisco, California; five brothers: David Determann of Clinton, Thomas (Judy) Determann of Clinton, Edward (Sharon) Determann of Lake Mills, Iowa, Andrew (Nancy) Determann of Camanche, and Robert (Kelly) Determann of Camanche; and numerous nieces and nephews. Jay was preceded in death by his parents, and an uncle. Memorials can be made to The Victory Center or the American Red Cross.
