Jay P. Bentley's Obituary
CAMANCHE: Jay “Sparky” Patrick Bentley passed away peacefully at home on Sunday June 28th, surrounded by his loving family.
Following a courageous battle against glioblastoma, Sparky chose to make one final gift to others by donating his body to the University of Iowa Deeded Body Program for medical education and research.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 10, 2026, from 5-8pm at The Camanche Bowling Alley, 1823 S Washington Blvd, Camanche IA 52730.
Sparky was born July 1st, 1964, son of Jay and Faye (Archer) Bentley in Clinton, IA. He graduated from Camanche High School in 1982. He married his high school sweetheart, Brenda Stuhlman, on April 27th, 1985.
He worked at International Paper and then Rock Tenn until he retired in 2023.
Spring and Summers were spent behind the wheel of his General Lee, exploring roads and discovering new places and restaurants. Sparky was also a lifelong duck hunter and enjoyed spending time with his dogs and being on the river.
Sparky is survived by his wife, Brenda; daughter, Chelsea (Sean) Salger and Sean’s daughter, Danica; son, Eric (Devan Worthington) Bentley; Sparky’s beloved dogs, Hank, Reggie, Luci-Lu; his siblings, Linda Graves, Mike (Debbie) Bentley, Dan (Kim) Bentley, Judy Cary, Nancy Determann, Mary (Bill) Dolan, Holle Bentley, Barbie (Jim McGrogan) Bentley; many nieces and nephews and a large group of amazing friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jay & Faye Bentley.
