Janice L. Olson's Obituary
Janice L. Olson, 82, of Fulton, formerly of Clinton passed away, Saturday evening at Genesis Medical Center – East Campus – Davenport.
Funeral Services will be 2:00pm, Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Visitation will be from noon to the service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
Janice Lee Keeney Porter was born on September 30, 1940 in Bellevue, Iowa, the daughter of Harlan and Maxine (Henry) Keeney. After the death of her father; her mother married Harold Porter and he adopted her and her brother Byron. She graduated from Clinton High School in 1959 and then went to cosmetology school in Dubuque, Iowa.
Janice married the love of her life, Ronald Olson, on September 3, 1960 at the First Presbyterian Church in Clinton. In the following years between raising three children: Cheryl, Eric and Lance, she worked as a stylist at the Hilltop Beauty Shop and Family Afhair. She was a PTA mom at Lincoln and Longfellow schools and enjoyed family camping for 50 years. After her retirement at the age of 65, she joined and loved volunteering with the Clinton Citizens Police Academy Auxiliary. However her greatest passion was her “Caring Button Bouquets” which she shared with many people.
Janice is survived by her husband: Ronald of Fulton; her daughter: Cheryl McRoberts of Clinton; two sons: Eric Olson (Nancy) of Phoenix, Arizona, and Lance Olson (Jeri) of Las Vegas, Nevada; and her grandchildren: Jaron McRoberts, McKenna McRoberts, Kaitlin Olson Cook (Nolan), Everett Olson, Andrew Silva, Alex Olson, and Aaron Olson. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers: Byron Porter and Gale Keeney.
