Jane Koons' Obituary
Jane A. Koons, 55, of Clinton, died Saturday, November 6, 2010 at the Eagle Point Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Memorial Services will be 10:00am, Saturday, November 13, 2010 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory with Dr. Donald Batz officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00-7:00pm at the funeral home. Jane Ann Rickoff was born on July 15, 1955 in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of William and Ione (Wilson) Rickoff. She was a 1973 graduate of Northeast High School. She later graduated from Iowa State University in 1980 with a degree in Sociology. She married Robert Koons on September 1, 1979 in Clinton. She was currently employed as a paraeducator in reading and math at Northeast Elementary School since 1993. Prior to that she was the office manager with Western Temporary Services from 1981-1991. She enjoyed taking long walks, spending time with her family and friends, caring for her animals, and shopping and spending time in Galena. She was a member of the American Business Women’s Association serving as a past-president and past treasurer. In 1993 Jane and a teaching colleague spearheaded the summer library and reading program at Northeast Elementary which continues on. She is survived by her husband: Robert of Clinton; her daughter: Caroline Koons of Clinton, her son: Bryant Koons of Clinton; her parents: Bill and Ione Rickoff of Clinton; her brother: Steve (Diana Smith) Rickoff of Clinton; her mother-in-law: Lynette Koons of Clinton; and two sister-in-laws: Julia (Ed) Frederick of St. Augustine Beach, Florida, and Martha Koons of Walnut, California; and four nieces. She was preceded in death by her grandparents. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Leukemia/Lyphmoa Society – 8033 University Blvd. Suite A – Des Moines, IA 50325.
