James A. Selser Sr.'s Obituary
James A. Selser, Sr., 74, formerly of Clinton, passed away Sunday, November 24, 2024 at his son’s home in Kingsport, TN. Private visitation will be held from 11:00AM to 1:00PM Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home. Burial with full Military honors will follow at the National Cemetery, Rock Island. Online condolences may be expressed at snellzornig.com.
James was born December 10, 1949 in Moline, Illinois, the son of James E. and Phyllis (Johnson) Selser. He was educated in the Clinton Schools and graduated from Clinton Community College and Marycrest College. James married Darlene Shirley December 15, 1972 in Morrison, Illinois; she died June 10, 2015.
James was a US Navy Veteran, serving in Vietnam from 1969 to 1970. He was a life member of the VFW, life member of the DAV. He enjoyed reading, especially about history and fishing.
Survivors include his children, James A. Selser, Jr., of Kingsport, TN; and Debra Kaye (John) Deackman of Darlington, Wisconsin; Ed Selser of Castle Rock, CO; numerous grandchildren and his brother and sisters, Bruce (Billie) Selser of Clinton, IA; Genny (Tim ) Clark of Clinton, IA; Sandy (Phil) Dawson of Albany, IL and Denise Selser of Clinton, IA.
