I worked with James for over 22 years but didn't get to know him until the last few. I knew enough to know that he was a man of integrity who was loyal and devoted to his family. A couple of years ago he joined a weight loss competition that I was in charge of. He would often tell me how his daily routine of diet and exercise would go. It was obvious that he was very determined to win as he would often ride his bike for miles or I would catch him at the gym. On the last day of the weigh in, he needed to lose about 3 lbs. in 4 hours to win 1st place. I could tell he was a bit discouraged since he was about to eat his lunch. At that point I had assumed he was going to accept 2nd place since the odds were already stacked against him but all he said was "I'll let you know". I didn't see James for the next 4 hours and I was getting ready to leave for the day when he shows up in my office and said "ok, I am ready to officially weigh in". He ended up losing those 3 lbs. and took 1st place! I looked at him in disbelief and asked him how he did it? He just looked at me and grinned and said, "it wasn't easy!" LOL
He will be missed.
