James Hickey's Obituary
James Hickey, Jr., 89, of Clinton, IA, died Sunday, March 1, 2009 at his home in Clinton, IA. Funeral services will be held at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory on Thursday, March 5, 2009 at Noon. Visitation will be at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig on Wednesday March 4, 2009 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Cremation will follow the services at Snell-Zornig. Honorary pallbearers are Herbie, Charles Wilkerson, Jack Lorenzen, John Melvin Sr., Clyde Helmle, Richard Herrmann, Bill Johnson and Catfish.
James was born on February 21, 1920, in Clinton, IA, the son of James and Gladys (Sexton) Hickey. He was employed as a welder for Chicago and Northwestern Railroad for 35 years retiring in 1978.
James was an avid Cubs fan, he enjoyed fishing and playing cards.
Survivors include his children, William (Marva) Hickey of Las Vegas, NV; Tim (Gwenn) Hickey of Camanche, IA; David (Lorraine) Hickey of Clinton, IA; Raymond (Karen) Hickey of Clinton, IA; Lloyd Hickey of Clinton, IA; Mary (Clyde) Helmle of Clinton, IA and Jamie (William) Johnson of Clinton, IA; a special cousin, Doll Lorenzen; 16 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. James was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sons, a grandson and 1 sister.
