James J. Brown's Obituary
James J. Brown, 93, of Clinton, passed away, Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at Bickford Cottage surrounded by his family.
There will be no services or visitation; the Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family.
James Jacob Brown was born on August 19, 1929 in Waverly, Iowa the son of George and Doris (Goettsch) Brown. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1947. He then went to serve in the United States Army from 1948-1951 during the Korean Conflict. He then attended Clinton Community College after he returned home from the service.
Jim married Helen Kupfer on March 21, 1953 in Clinton; she passed away May 9, 2002. He was employed at ADM for 41 years retiring in 1994 as the superintendent of the alcohol plant. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, and gardening. He was a dedicated husband and father who enjoyed spending time with his family. He will also be remembered for his hobby of crafting his homemade wines.
Jim is survived by his children: Roxanne (William) McGatha of Texas, James (Laura) Brown, Jr. of Camanche, Lorrie (Terry) Bruggenwirth of Clinton, Kevin (Sandi) Brown of Clinton, and Eric Brown of Clinton; 16 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Leda Kriebs of Moline, and Patsy Ohl of Independence, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two sisters, and three brothers.
