Carter Niemeyer
Jack Merten is one of my closest and best friends since we met as young kids in our neighborhood in Garner, Hancock County, Iowa. He was like a brother as we grew up together and prowled the rural countryside fishing, hunting, looking for arrowheads and enjoying nature. We kept in touch over the years despite the miles of separation between us as we moved on in life. Jack accomplished so much in his life - a life well lived with his family. We were lucky enough to get to see each other last August along with other neighborhood friends, eat ice cream and reminisce about our youthful days growing up in the 50s and 60s - all good memories for the most part. Jack is one of those unforgettable people that will live in my heart forever. Our memories will never die. RIP Jack.
