Irma Jean Hudson was born on October 31, 1919, at home in Low Moor, Iowa to Howard and Bertha Goers Hudson. She attended school in Low Moor and then graduated from Clinton High School in 1936 and from Scovill Business College in 1938. On May 19, 1946, she was married to Orville (Sonny) Norman Seamer at the Low Moor United Methodist Church; he passed away on April 11, 2011. They farmed and raised their family on the Seamer Family Heritage Farm in Plugtown until 1991 when they retired and moved to Clinton. During their retirement they enjoyed travelling and playing golf. They spent 14 winters in Arizona.
Irma was employed for 21 years as a secretary in the law office of Jurgemeyer, Frey and Haufe in Clinton. In her earlier years she was a faithful worker in her church and held many offices in the Sunday School, United Methodist women and on the Church Board.
Irma loved reading books and the newspaper. And always did the crossword puzzles. But the greatest joy in her life was when she had all of her family together for holidays, birthdays or just to be together. She and Sonny loved following the Iowa Hawkeyes and all their grandchildren’s activities at Northeast.
Irma was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, sisters and brother in laws, Goldie and Elmer Petersen and Effie and Frank Hall and 2 nieces.
Irma is survived by her daughter Jean and Bruce Rickertsen and son Rick and Nyla Seamer both of Goose Lake; grandchildren: Dana (Mike) Weed, Leslie (Pat) Roling, Jeremy (Sharon) Rickertsen, Lane (Shannon) Seamer, Jess (Tiffany) Rickertsen, Jay (Marsha) Rickertsen and Lacey Wiersema; 17 greatgrandchildren: Olivia and Heath Weed, Sawyer, Stetson and Saydie Roling, Cora Wiersema, Carter, Ella and Eyan Seamer and Kali, Collin, Jace, Sydney, Brayden, Dayne, Addelinn and Wyatt Rickertsen.
Memorials can be made to the Honor Flight of the Quad Cities or the Low Moor United Methodist Church.
