Irene Franzen's Obituary
Irene J. Franzen, 93, of Orlando, FL and formerly of Clinton died Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at her son's home in Orlando. Services will be held at Prince of Peace, Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Monday, April 21, 2008 at 1:30 PM. Visitation will be at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory on Sunday, April 20, 2008 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, in Maquoketa, IA. She was born on Friday, July 10, 1914, in Otter Creek, IA, the daughter of John and Mary Ann (Hingtsen) Geber. She married Frank Franzen on February 12, 1934 in Maquoketa, Iowa; he died July 11, 1991. Irene attended the Otter Creek Iowa schools. She was a member of Prince of Peace Parish, the Alter and Rosary Society and the Women of the Moose. Irene had been employed as a spot welder at Collis Co. for 23 years retiring in 1977. Survivors include two sons, Ronald (Shirley) Franzen of Orlando, FL; and Victor (Marcia) Franzen of Low Moor, IA; 8 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 15 great great grandchildren; and her brother-in-law, Mel Stiles of Maquoketa, IA. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and a brother.
