Howard James Jewell's Obituary
Howard J. Jewell, 95, of Clinton passed away Monday, November 22, 2021 at Eagle Point Nursing Home, Clinton, IA. Visitation will be Monday, November 29, 2021 from 5-8:00PM at the Clinton Chapel Snell Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory. Services will be held at 10:00AM, Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Dana Jewell, Aaron Jewell, Jason Lue, Terry Cox and Aaron Brewer. Howard was born August 15, 1926 in Clinton, Iowa the son of Joseph and Florence Mae (Harrington) Jewell. Howard was educated in the Lyon’s, Iowa Schools. He married Iola Mae Kubert June 4, 1945 in Clinton, IA; she died October 30, 2007.
Howard was employed as a meatcutter for Kopp’s Grocery Store for more than 30 years, retiring in 1992.
Howard was a member of the former Lutheran Church of Atonement and New Hope Lutheran Church for many years and was active with the Clinton Police Reserves for 35 years. He enjoyed fishing, Baseball games, picnics, playing cards and spending time with family.
Survivors include his sons, Rodney Lee (La Sene) Jewell of Clinton, IA and Jody James Jewell of Clinton, IA; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, one great great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his son Donald (Barb) Jewell, four brothers, a sister, daughter-in-law, Carol and his parents.
