Howard Goble's Obituary
Howard L. Goble, 90, of Clinton, died Tuesday, August 5, 2008 at Riverview Manor, Pleasant Valley, Iowa. Funeral Services will be 1:00pm, Friday, August 8, 2008 at the First Presbyterian Church, Clinton. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Herrera, Aaron Filgo, Bruce Abbott, and Pete Lewis. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Dick Sykes and Kenny Nyquist. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00-7:00pm at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory. Howard LeRoy Goble was born on March 27, 1918 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of William and Alice (Schott) Goble. He married Arnette Hyde on October 27, 1938 in Clinton; she later died May 1, 1989. Howard was a graduate of Clinton High School. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving in World War II from 1944-1946. Howard was employed with Clinton Foods/Standard Brands his entire life; retiring as a yard master. Howard was a lifetime member of the First Presbyterian Church, a former member of the Clinton Moose Lodge, an avid golfer and member of the Fulton Country Club, and was an excellent bowler in his younger years. Howard is survived by his daughter; Carolyn Graham of LeClaire, Iowa; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Howard was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one son; Ron; and two brothers. Memorials can be made to the First Presbyterian Church.
