Hilton Eugene Simpson, age 80, of Austin, TX died Sunday, February 17, 2008 after an extended battle with Alzheimer's. Hilton was born January 27, 1928 in Alexis, IL to Thomas M. and Florence (Bates) Simpson. He married Beatrice J Read Obituary
Hilton and I shared many interests including art, music and poetry. I miss the way he would include us all in his latest creation. I will cherish my carvings from him forever.
Hilton was a great man and his talents have obviously been passed down to his children and grandchildren. I'm glad there's a little bit of him in all of you.

Hilton was one of those people who could fix or build or make anything. His talents were really quite remarkable, from building his home to carving a figure out of wood. He was truly a joy to be around, particulary when his wife Joy was alive. He had a sense of humor about the world. He loved us and we loved him. Because of his illness we have missed him for a very long time. Now he has gone home where he will be with Joy and those who have gone before. Hilton, we miss you still. The next time I go to sweat a joint or set a comode, I will think of you. Next time I draw a plumb line or see a wood carving that I like, I will think of you. When I look at your grandchildren, I remember you. Rest easy and know that your family is doing fine and we will all be together soon enough. With all our love. Paul.
Uncle Hilton never seemed to sit still,much like his brother and my dad,Loren.He always had a project.He loved his family and his community.Our family grieves his passing, but rejoice in the knowing that he is with his beloved Joy, as they continue their eternal life with our Lord.Our prayers are for his family and loved ones.

I remember when Hilton and Joy moved to Austin. They welcomed my husband Mark and I into their home for Sunday dinners, Thanksgiving dinners and just any time, and made us feel like family. That meant so much to us since we were far from our own families and parents. It has been many years since I last saw Hilton, but I can still picture his smile, and can hear him singing in the choir. Our hearts are sad, but find comfort in memories that will last always. God bless you.
We moved to Camanche, June, 1969 with a 3yr old son, Ty and a newborn son, Jeremy. Nathan, our 3rd son came in 1973lThe first to welcome us with a casserole was our neighbor, Joy & Hilton Simpson. This relationship lasted until l991 when they moved to Texas - we missed them so much. Joy & Hilton (it's hard to separate them - they just "went together". They were a team, soul mates and always willing to help us inso many ways,whether it was Joy, hemming a skirt for me, or Hilton "fixing" something broken at our home or the kid's bikes. They were kind, gentle and unassuming people, going about their way to help family, neighbors,church or community. Our boys loved them and they have left their imprint in their lives with fond memories of them and their children. It is true, Hilton will be with Joy at last.
Our deepest sympathy travels across the miles that we were unable to. Uncle Hilton will always be a special part of our memories and the many wonderful times we spent together. May the music of his heart be with all of us always as we travel our paths, his voice to remain in our minds and his love to be passed through to his children in many ways.
