Henry Mensinger's Obituary
Henry H. Mensinger, 90, of Camanche, died Friday, August 5, 2011, at Mercy Living Center – South. Funeral Services will be 11:00am, Monday, August 8, 2011 at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery with military honors being conducted by the Camanche VFW. Serving as pallbearers will be Jim Vogel, Bernie Vogel, David Vogel, Dan Bolte, Gary Mensinger and Jerry Mensinger. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be, Chad Bigwood, Dale Goodman, Danny Vogel, Brian Hagerman, Bill Pranger, Greg Hagerman, and Alan Hagerman. Visitation will be Monday from 9:00am to the service time of 11:00am at the funeral home.
Henry Herman Mensinger was born on August 25, 1920 in Camanche, Iowa the son of Carl and Florence (Wiebers) Mensinger. He married Helen Belle Hagerman on October 17, 1946 in the Baptist Parsonage in Camanche. He was a 1937 graduate of Clinton High School and was a veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II from 1942-1946 in Europe. He was employed with DuPont for 25 years. He was also a partner in the Ford tractor garage business in McCausland for a period of 10 years. In his younger days Henry played baseball with the Camanche Indians. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, a commercial fisherman, and enjoyed hunting. He was a great lover of music. He especially enjoyed “keeping time” to “The Gaithers” on Saturday night tv. His last several years were spent watching the barges going up and down the River and feeding “his” squirrels and ducks. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Camanche and the Camanche VFW. He is survived by his wife: Helen of Camanche; two sisters: Mildred Vogel of Camanche, and Bernice (Robert) Bolte of Camanche; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother: Russell. Memorials can be made to the First Baptist Church – Camanche.
