Helen June Volckmann's Obituary
Helen June Rich Volckmann, 95, of Morrison, Illinois, died Thursday, October 17, 2019, at Resthave Care & Rehabilitation, Morrison. Graveside services will be held at Springdale Cemetery, Clinton, for family. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements. Helen June Rich was born March 10, 1924 in Sterling, Illinois, the daughter of Edward Mills and Edith Fern (Briggs) Rich. Helen married Brigadier General Russell William Volckmann August 28, 1948 in Clinton, Iowa; he died June 30, 1982.
Helen was a homemaker and a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. She was a member of the Morrison First Presbyterian Church. Helen was a very talented golfer as evidenced by both numerous Country Club and Lincoln Highway Tournament championships. Golf was a passion she shared with her husband and she enjoyed the many friendships made at Clinton, Morrison and Harlingen (Texas) Country Clubs. Helen volunteered in the Morrison schools and was a Cub Scout Den Mother for several years.
She is survived by her sons, William Edward (Cynthia) Volckmann of Dallas, Georgia and Edward H. (Wendy) Volckmann of Morrison, Illinois; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Edward Mills Rich II, a sister, Barbara Rich Greene and her step-son, Russell “Rusty” William Volckmann.
