Helen L. Smith's Obituary
Helen L. Smith, 88, of rural Elvira, passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at Mercy Living Center – North, Clinton.
Funeral Services will be 10:00am, Saturday December 22, 2018 at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Burial will be in the Elvira Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Danny Nielsen, Mitch Nielsen, Randy King, and Mike Pray. Visitation will be from 9:00am to the service time at the funeral home on Saturday.
Helen Lucille Oelrich was born on September 27, 1930 at the family farm in rural DeWitt, the daughter of Henry and Caroline (Lausen) Oelrich. She was a 1949 graduate of the DeWitt High School. She married Kenneth E. Smith on April 12, 1951 at the church parsonage in Elvira; he died August 25, 2015.
Helen was farmwife/homemaker. She was a member of the Elvira Zion Lutheran Church and it’s Naomi Circle. She enjoyed playing cards especially 500. She loved fishing, gardening, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Helen is survived by her daughter: Debbie (Tom) King of Camanche, and her son: Dale (Linda) Smith of rural DeWitt; four grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her sister.
