Helen Gacki's Obituary
Helen A. Gacki, 90, of Clinton, died, Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at her home. Mass of the Christian Burial will be 10:00am, Friday, January 15, 2010 at Jesus Christ Prince of Peace Church. Burial will be in the St. Ireanus Calvary Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Keagan Berg, Andrew McEleney, Tom McEleney, Dan McEleney, Ed McEleney, and Bill McEleney. The family will greet friends from 9:30am to the mass time at the church. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Helen Ann Kublin was born on October 4, 1919 in New York City, the daughter of Charles and Caroline (Blaycz) Kublin. She married Leonard W. Gacki, a physicist and inventor, on November 4, 1942 in New York City; he later died December 19, 1982. Helen was a graduate of Hunter High School in New York City and graduated from Hunter College in 1940. Helen was a member of Jesus Christ Prince of Peace Parish and a member of PEO Chapter JW. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed playing with the women of the Clinton Country Club, the Hospital Auxiliary and Prince of Peace Parish. Helen was an enthusiastic Notre Dame football fan and an active member of the Republican Party. Helen is survived by her daughter: Ginny (John) McEleney of Fulton, Illinois, her son: Bill (Joan) Gacki of St. Paul, Minnesota; and three grandchildren: Allison (Keagan) McEleney Berg, Andrew McEleney, and Daniel Gacki and a great grandchild: Carter Berg. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers, and her sister Stephanie. Helen was blessed with wonderful health care providers at home. Thank you to the entire McEleney family for their love and support during the 20 years she lived in Iowa. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Jesus Christ Prince of Peace Parish in Clinton, Iowa.
