Glenn Barr's Obituary
Glenn H. Barr, 85, of Clinton, died Saturday, May 10, 2008 at Eagle Point Nursing Home, Clinton.
Funeral Services will be 10:30am, Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at the Community Reformed Church in Clinton. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery, with military honors being conducted by the Clinton AMVETS Post #28. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 4:00-7:00pm at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory.
Glenn Harold Barr was born on September 14, 1922 in Hammond, Illinois, the son of Asa and Julia (James) Barr. He married Jennett Houzenga on September 11, 1953 in Fulton, Illinois; she died February 20, 2001.
Glenn was a graduate of Hammond High School in 1940. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Navy.
Glenn farmed in the Lanark, Illinois area until 1971 when he was employed with the Chicago Northwestern Railroad as a car inspector until his retirement in 1985.
Glenn enjoyed collecting ties and collecting and reading National Geographic magazines. He was a member of the Community Reformed Church in Clinton.
Glenn is survived by one son: Steve Barr of Clinton, one daughter: Susan Mangelsen of Clinton; six grandchildren: Brian Barr, Kevin Mangelsen, Steve Barr, Michelle Barr, Nicole Barr, and Danny Barr; two great-grandchildren: Emily Halfacre and Ethan Mangelsen; two brothers: Lawrence Barr of Morrison, Illinois and Charles (Ann) Barr of Fulton, Illinois; two sisters: JoAnn (Phil) Remery of Savanna, Illinois, and Virginia Long of Aurora, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews:
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one brother and one sister.
