Gladys L Voelkers, 86, of Clinton died Saturday, February 7, 2009 at the Sarah Harding Home in Clinton. Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be 3:00 P.M. on Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at the Sarah Harding Home. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements. Gladys L. Hendes was born on May 24, 1922 in Low Moor, IA, the daughter of Bernard and Hattie (Stolk) Hendes. She attended Low Moor and McCausland schools. She married LeRoy W. Voelkers on November 8, 1939 in Clinton; he died on July 30, 2004. She was employed with A.C. Nielsen’s Clearing House for 20 years. She was a member of Chancy Lutheran Church and the Women of the Moose. She enjoyed crocheting and was a great cook. She is survived by 3 daughters: Sharon Ferrell of Clinton, Judith Cronacher of Boulder, CO, and Barbara Sheehan of South Bend, IN; 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one son, one brother, one sister and one son-in-law. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
