Gladys Hungate's Obituary
Gladys Hungate, 98, of Clinton died Friday, August 5, 2011, at the Alverno Health Care Facility, Clinton. A funeral service will be held at the Beckwith Funeral Home in Larned, Kansas, on Saturday, August 20, 2011, with burial in the Larned Cemetery. There will be no services in Clinton. Gladys was born May 2, 1913, in Pawnee Rock, Kansas, to Benjamin and Susie (Base) Koehn. She married Myron L. Hungate in 1933. They farmed in western Kansas before moving to Larned in 1938, where Myron was a contractor. He died in 1994. Gladys lived in Larned until her move to Clinton in 2004. She was employed as an assistant to Dr. Robert Bair, a Larned optometrist, for 23 years. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Larned and sang in the church choir for many years. Before her recent move to the Alverno, she lived at the Prairie Hills assisted living facility in Clinton. She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen (David) Sivright of Clinton, daughter-in-law Beverly Hungate of Lenexa, KS, grandchildren Chris Sivright of Camanche, Lora (Matt) Muilenburg of Prairie du Chien, WI, Jason (Audra) Hungate of Kearney, MO, Gina (Chad) Huff of Moorseville, MO, Mira (Rusty) Hammond of Larned, KS, and Mark Hungate of Kansas City, MO, and sixteen great-grandchildren. In addition to Myron, she was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Jay Hungate, three brothers and ten sisters. The family requests memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association.
