Genevieve Burns' Obituary
Genevieve J. Burns, 91, of Clinton, died Saturday, March 22, 2008 at Harmony House, Clinton. Funeral Services will be 10:30 am, Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at Prince of Peace Parish, Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be grandchildren, Craig Lind, Aaron Rich, Kristen Rich-Miller and Tiana Abbott and Gary Kane and Craig Abbott. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 25, 2008 from 4:00-8:00 pm at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory. Genevieve J. Burden was born on June 25, 1916 in Whiteside County, Illinois, the daughter of Richard and Mary Alice (Devine) Burden. She married Seward Burns on June 30, 1946 in Fulton, Illinois, at the Immaculate Conception Church; he died on August 5, 1998. Genevieve was a homemaker and was employed with Lou-Marge's for many years, as well as Nielsen's Clearing House. Genevieve was a member of the Prince of Peace Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was also a lifetime member of the Albany American Legion Auxiliary and the Women of the Moose, Clinton. Genevieve is survived by her two daughters: Roberta Abbott of Clinton, and Christine Rich of Clinton; four grandchildren; one great-grandson, Ronald Abbott-Lutton; and her brother, Paul Burden of Clinton. In addition her husband, Genevieve was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers. Memorials may be made to Bluff Terrace Nursing Home or Mercy Hospice.
