I knew Gene for about 15 or 20 years now. I met him when I was the police chief in Nevada, Iowa and he was working for Police Legal Sciences. I then served with Gene on the law enforcement academy council. What a great man and super talented person he is. I heard this news this morning and was shocked. We lost a good one in Gene. He served his fellow man well. He is no doubt as good as it gets. I will pray for Gene and his family. He will be missed.
Gene and my grandpa were great friends. When grandpa passed, Gene filled those shoes and always brought a smile to my face when he shared memories of Elvie. Gene’s positive attitude and laugh were contagious and his love for Jesus and sharing His love with others will always be remembered.
I attended school with Gene from Whittier Elementary to West Waterloo High. Gene was a popular guy and believe me when I say he will be missed.

Chief Beinke was a great guy. I met him when I was working as a guidance counselor at CHS and when we started the GLAAD group against alcohol and drug abuse. He was a great supporter and dear friend. May GOD welcome into Heaven with open arms. RIP GENE. Denny Duerling
What an amazing life! My late husband and I met Gene when looking at The Village. The visits all took longer than expected because he was such an interesting person with which to visit. Rest in Peace, Gene. You’ve earned it. My deepest sympathy to his family and friends.
