Gary Rogis' Obituary
Gary L. Rogis, 77, of Clinton, died Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at his home in Clinton. Memorial Services will be 1:00pm, Saturday, December 4, 2010, at the First United Methodist Church, Clinton with Pastor Dennis Glew officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30am to the service time Saturday at the church. Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory is in charge of arrangements. Gary Lee Rogis was born on February 2, 1933 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Alvin and Vernetta (Rittmer) Rogis. He attended Clinton schools and graduated from Clinton High School in 1951. He married Joanne Houseman on February 19, 1952 in Greenville, South Carolina. For many years they farmed in the Clinton County area. He then was associated with Eastern Iowa Grain and Fertilizer retiring in 1995. In his retirement years he enjoyed his grandchildren’s activities, woodworking, puzzles, and building dollhouses. He also had a great love for animals, including many he rescued. Gary is survived by his wife Joanne; son: Robyn (Deb Brooks) Rogis of Bryant; daughter: Traci (Steve) Lingle of Clinton; daughter-in-law: Sue Rogis of Clinton; his sister: Marilyn “Babe” Behr of Camanche; his sister-in-law: Linda (Harry) Craig of Leesburg, Fl; grandchildren: Lee (Ashlee) Rogis, Jed Rogis, Rachael (Ryan) Putman, Sam Rogis, Chase, Ryne, Ben and Bo Lingle, great-grandchildren: Blake and Aubrey Putman; and his special dog that was always by his side: Shaunalee. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, his son: Greg, and his brother: Gene. Memorials can be made to the family and will be distributed to various charities.
