Gary L. Kremer's Obituary
Gary L. Kremer, 71, of Camanche passed away, Friday, October 20, 2017 at Select Specialty Hospital – Davenport.
Funeral Mass will be 10:30 am, Thursday, October 26, 2017 at the Church of the Visitation – Camanche. Burial will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery with military honors being conducted by the Moline American Legion. Serving as pallbearers will be Brandon Gassmann, Logan Gassmann, Mason Gassmann, John Flannigan, Jr., Sean Boardman, and John Boardman. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home.
Gary Leonard Kremer was born September 6, 1946 in Monticello, Iowa, the son of Leonard P. and Dorothy C. (Wilson) Kremer. He graduated from Maquoketa Valley High School in Delhi, Iowa. He served in the United States Army from 1965 to 1967 in Vietnam. He married Julie Haynes on November 28, 1970 in Delhi, Iowa; they separated in 1985.
Gary worked for the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local #25 for 37 years; retiring in 2004. He was a member of the Church of the Visitation in Camanche, the Clinton AMVETS, and Harley’s Owners Group (H.O.G.). He also loved traveling across the country from coast to coast on his motorcycle. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye, Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan. He enjoyed visiting Civil War sites and reading literature about that time in our history.
Gary is survived by his two children: Deidra (Bob) Hundley of Camanche and Matthew (Windy Lamp) Kremer of Clinton; one grandson: Bobby Hundley of Camanche; two sisters: Mary (Wayne) Gassmann of Cascade, Iowa and Denise (John) Mest of Potosi, Wisconsin; his ex-wife: Julie Kremer of Clinton; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Dennis Kremer.
Memorial may be made to the Church of the Visitation or the Camanche Food Pantry.
