Gary D. Herch's Obituary
Gary D. Herch, 57, of Camanche passed away Saturday, June 22, 2019 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics – Iowa City, Iowa.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 am, Saturday, June 29, 2019 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Ed Jenkins, Darrin Green, Michael Parkerson, Pete Herch, Joe Walker, Jim Wilkerson, Steve Kuster and John Hartsell. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 pm, Friday evening at the funeral home in Clinton. Online condolences may be expressed by visiting his obituary at www.snellzornig.com.
Gary Dwayne Herch was born July 28, 1961 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Dennis Wilkerson and Paulene Russell, he was adopted as a baby by David Herch. He was a 1979 graduate of Clinton High School. He furthered his education through continued education opportunities through his employer. He worked for Custom Pak for nearly 32 years. He married Cindy Walker on August 15, 1981 at Calvary Baptist Church – Clinton.
He enjoyed many things such as camping, going to the gun range and to the beach, playing bags and barbecuing with his family, restoring old cars, being outside, fishing but mostly he enjoyed time spent with his family and friends. He loved being a grandpa. He was great with his hands and could fix about anything. As a younger man he enjoyed sky diving. He was an avid Hawkeye fan.
Gary is survived and will be dearly missed by his wife Cindy of Camanche; two daughters: Sara (Edward) Jenkins of Clinton and Kelli Johnson of Clinton, six grandchildren with one more on the way: Jaylynn, Josilynn, Carter, Jazmine, Jayce, and Tyler; his parents: Paulene and David Herch of Clinton; step mother: Elaine Wilkerson of Benton, Missouri and two brothers: Peter Herch of Clinton and Jim (Brenda) Wilkerson of Bloomfield, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his biological father Dennis Wilkerson, one brother Mike Herch, and his grandparents.
