Gary L. Fox's Obituary
Gary L. Fox, 65, of Camanche, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at his home in Camanche.
Funeral Services will be 10:30am, Saturday, February 22, 2014 at the First Congregational Church - Clinton. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery with military honors being conducted by the Camanche VFW Serving as pallbearers will be Rick Hoge, Dave Mink, Doug Jess, and Roger Adkins. Visitation will be Friday from 3:00pm to 7:00pm at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. To honor Gary’s love of the Hawkeyes please wear black and gold to the visitation. Gary Lee Fox was born on May 5, 1948 in Green Bay, Wisconsin, the son of Luverne and Georgia (Lewis) Fox. He was a 1966 graduate of Camanche High School. After graduating he enlisted in the United States Air Force serving from 1968-1972. After being honorably discharged he attended and graduated from Clinton Community College in 1973 and later graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 1976.
Gary married Darlene Knoche on August 5, 1983 in Clinton.
Gary taught special education in the Clinton Community School District retiring in 2012 after 16 years. He also taught at Northeast and coached baseball and football, prior to owning/operating the Fox Roller Rink for 20 years.
Gary was a member of the Clinton Gyro Club and was currently serving as Lt. Governor of Gyro International. He was a board member and enjoyed playing golf at the Fulton Country Club, telling stories, and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye, Green Bay Packer, and St. Louis Cardinals fan.
Gary is survived by his wife: Dar of Camanche; daughter: Tracy (Todd) Corson of Princeton, Iowa; and their children: Brooke & Connor; daughter Andrea Kranz of Sarasota, Florida and her children: Jaelen, Jadis, and Tyce Hebdon, daughter: Erin Fox of Iowa City, Iowa; son: Jess Hebdon of Kansas City, Missouri; and his brother: Larry (Sharon) Fox of Camanche.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents and two nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the family to be divided between the University of Iowa and Camanche High School Athletics.
