Gary Bicker, formerly of Clinton, IA, died May 11, 2024 at Big Meadows Nursing Home, Savanna, Il. Honoring his wishes, there will be no services.

Gary was born April 23, 1943 in Lanark, IL to Merle and Florence (Ditsworth) Bicker. Gary graduated from Clinton High School and proceeded into the Navy where he put his pilot’s license to good work serving as an Air Anti-Submarine Squadron pilot before being discharged in 1965.
Gary went on to receive both Art and Advertising certificates which he used during his career in the newspaper business. Gary worked with several newspapers over the years but spent the majority of his newspaper career with the Clinton Herald rising to the Ad Manager role. Gary went on to finish his work career at Rock-Tenn from where he retired in 2008. No matter where his working career took him, Gary always loved working amongst his fellow coworkers.
Gary had a love of the outdoors finding pleasure in several activities including gardening, yardwork, long bike rides and rounds of golf.
Gary married Margaret (Peg) Reynolds on May 27, 2001 and they shared 22 years of marriage. Much to Peg’s delight, Gary did more cooking than she did and volunteered to do the weekly grocery shopping proving that happiness is sometimes found in the small things.
Survivors include his wife, his brother, two daughters, a grandson, great-grandchildren, step children and spouses, step-grandchildren and spouses, step-great-grandchildren, a brother-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents.
