Gail Butler's Obituary
Gail Lynn Butler, 70, of Clinton, Iowa, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 22, 2012 after a year long bout with cancer. Funeral Services will be 7:00pm, Thursday, September 27, 2012 at the Clinton Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from 6:00pm to the service time Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be Friday at 1:00pm at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Greene, Iowa. A nephew, Rev. Phil Butler, senior pastor of First Baptist Church of Colfax, Iowa will conduct the services. Online condolences may be expressed by visiting her obituary at www.snellzornig.com . Gail Lynn Carter was born February 21, 1942 to Wilbert and Trevia Carter of Detroit, Michigan. She graduated from Taylor High School of Taylor (suburb of Detroit), Michigan in 1959 as a Valedictorian. She then attended Cedarville College where she met her husband. She was married to John Butler on June 9, 1961, in Southgate, Michigan, and they celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary before her death. She was a pastor's wife for thirty-five years, then managed with great efficiency the office of LBC Publications (which published her husband's books) for the last fifteen years. Gail was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbert and Trevia Carter; four sisters: Bonnie Carter (infant), Hazel Carter (infant), Norene Arquette, and Geradine Banwell; three nephews: David Erkfritz, Dennis, and Larry Arquette; and three nieces: Leslie Lindsay, Linda Blair, and Kristin Butler. She is survived by her husband, John, of 51 years; by her three children: Elizabeth Clute and her husband Charles of Atlanta, Georgia; Dave Butler of Madison, Wisconsin, and Steve Butler and his wife Caralyn of Charlotte, Iowa; five grandchildren: Charles Clute III, and his wife Lydia of Greenville, South Carolina; twins Jonathan and Christopher Clute of Atlanta, Georgia; and Thomas and Hannah Butler of Charlotte, Iowa. She is also survived by one sister, Delores Erkfritz of Trenton, Michigan; two sisters-in-law: Doris Butler of Waterloo, Iowa and Shirley Butler of Greene, Iowa; and numerous nephews and nieces.
