I was fortunate to have known Fred (though he was always Mr. Pike to me) and have very fond memories of our time together. I have some very funny memories of stories we shared, most of which aren't appropriate for this venue.
I wish I could be there Saturday but have a commitment out of town. I'm not surprised at all that Fred bought the drinks for his own funeral, and I'm now inspired to do the same. I may not be at the service, but I will definitely raise a cup to Fred on Saturday evening.
Fred, I know that you're sailing on bigger water now than you ever have, and taking better care of your ship than Jeff and I ever did. You are missed.
