Fred L. Halcomb's Obituary
Fred L. Halcomb, 81, of Clinton passed away Friday, January 20, 2023 at Eagle Point Healthcare Facility in Clinton.
Memorial Services will be 11:00 am, Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory. Visitation and viewing will be Tuesday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Online condolences may be expressed by visiting his obituary at www.snellzornig.com. Fred L. Halcomb was born on October 1, 1941 in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of William and Minnie Rupsman Halcomb. He attended Clinton Community School and earned his Associate’s Degree from the Institute of Technology in Morrison in 1971. He served in the United States Army from 1967 to 1969. He married Sue Peters in Camdenton, Missouri on September 28, 1977; she preceded him in death on July 2, 2018. Fred worked as a maintenance trainer for fourteen years before he retired.
He enjoyed fishing, working with his hands and spending time under the tree with his friends and family.
Fred is survived by his children: Scott (Judy) Halcomb of Belvidere, Illinois, Derek (Chelsea) Halcomb of Clinton, Ty (Abby) Halcomb of McKinney, Texas and Jodi (Darrell Heim) Shanafelt of Clinton; six grandchildren: Lauren, Meagan, Heather, Roman, Samuel and Rosalee; four great grandchildren: Ella, Layla, Finn, and Freya; siblings: Linda Shockey of Clinton, Charles Halcomb of Goose Lake, Iowa, and William Halcomb of Clinton.
