Frank Sattizahn's Obituary
Frank Roy Sattizahn, 90, of Clinton, IA, died Friday, February 6, 2009 at the Alverno Health Care Facility in Clinton, IA. Services will be held at First United Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at 10:30 AM. Visitation will be at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory on Monday, February 9, 2009 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Burial will be at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Frank's grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
He was born August 5, 1918, in Rock Island, IL, the son of Roy and Rosa (Frank) Sattizahn. Frank was a 1936 Rock Island High School graduate and graduated from the University of Illinois in 1940. Frank was a United States Army WWII veteran.
He married Margaret Chapman on August 16, 1941 in Silvis, Illinois. He was employed as Process Engineer for Dupont for 44 years, retiring in 1985.
Frank was a member and Elder many times at the First Presbyterian Church, he co-taught Junior High Sunday School at church for 20 years, he was a Mason, a member of Kiwanis, SCORE from 1988 until 2003, was past president of the Engineer's Club, was a 3 term councilman for the 3rd ward, he was a member of the Clinton Dock Commission, the Library Board, he was Dr. of Science for "Fun with Science" at Dupont-Bemis, was a member of the American Chemical Society and was a volunteer tax preparer with SCORE.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Sattizahn of Clinton, IA; daughters, Kay L. Henning of Wilton, IA and Judy Wolfensperger of Jacksonville, FL; sons, John of Charlotte, NC, Richard of Centennial, CO and Mark of Erie, IL; 12 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church or to Genesis Hospice.
