Frances McDonald's Obituary
Frances M. McDonald, 83, of Clinton passed Friday, April 10, 2026 at Bickford of Clinton.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 am, Thursday, April 16, 2026 at the First United Presbyterian Church in Clinton. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery with Military Honors being conducted by the United States Navy. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the service time at the church. Frances Marian Carson was born August 29, 1942 in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Herbert and Marian (Carlson) Carson. She was a 1960 graduate of Clinton High School. She earned her bachelors degree from Parson College in 1964 and her Masters Degree from the University of Iowa in 1972. Fran enlisted in the US Navy in 1963 and served for 38 years where she retired as a Captain. After her retirement from the Navy she was a Civil Servant at the Bureau of Engraving and Printing.
Fran was a devoted member of her community. She was a member and elder of the First United Presbyterian Church in Clinton, was a member of P.E.O Chapter J.W., Naval Order of the United States, Association of U.S. Navy, Reserve Officer Association, National Maritime Historical Society, Ladies of Mount Vernon, Historic Naval Ships Association, University of Iowa Alumni Association, Nation Trust and Historic Preservation, Clinton County Historical Museum, U.S National Holocaust Museum, U.S. Treasury Historical Association, Women in Military Service Association and the Republican National Committee.
She is survived by several cousins including: Laurie (Cletus) Heister of Preston, Iowa, Julie (Jack) Burke of Langhorne, Pennsylvania, Jeff Paulsen of Langhorne, Pennsylvania, Kristy (Mike) Stanfield of Braunfels, Texas, Kjersten (Bob) Kenniston of Billings, Missouri, Jeanne Luse of Central City, Iowa, Marie Lane (age 103) of Rockford, Illinois, David Latta of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Robert Latta of Maryland, Susan Wince of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Catherine Meyerhoff of Waterloo, Iowa, Leslie Leggio of Sacramento, California, Cynthia Seymour of Schertz, Texas, Ron Luse of Marion, Iowa, John Wago of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Virginia Luna of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and many church family, PEO sisters and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
