Francie and the Bickelhaupts embraced me when I moved back to Clinton in 2002. Francie had a special way of making Arb volunteers feel special and included. I loved during gatherings how she would have each of us introduce ourselves and share a little bit of our background.
Francie not only shared her light with the Arboretum, the city of Clinton, family, and friends she also helped those of us share our light as well.
I feel so grateful to have written birding articles for the Green Scene, helped with the "No Child Left Inside" programs, and assist in the development of the Bird Haven at the Arb.
Francie, I feel so blessed that our lives' paths crossed. The Arboretum is a living legacy to you and your family!

Francie and her mother, Frances, were both members of our local branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) for many years. We enjoyed knowing them and their loyal support will be remembered. Francie was a ball of energy and was a positive energy in her lifetime of giving to others. Francie was an amazing person. I saw how much her Son, Daughter in Law, and Grandson were touched by her. So loving and supportive. I know she challenged her son (J Hill) to use his abilities as a leader and mentor, to get involved in kids lives.
J is using basketball to make a difference in many kids and families worlds. Francie will continue her presence on this earth through her kids, grandkids, as well as everyone she came in contact in this life. (Including me)

Francie was a wonderful friend over the many years we were F.L.O.A.T.ers. She was dynamic and always full of ideas. What I most admired was how much she cared for children, friend and the community. I will miss her very much.
