Evelyn Bower's Obituary
Evelyn M. Bower, 83, of Camanche, died Friday, September 25, 2009 at Mercy Living Center – North, Clinton. Funeral Services will be 10:30am, Monday, September 28, 2009 at the First Baptist Church, Camanche. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Dale Sharp, T.J. Bower, Joel Wehde, Joe Stutting, Josh Stutting, and Mike McNulty. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00-4:00pm at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory. Evelyn Marie Lord was born on June 12, 1926 in Muscatine, Iowa, the daughter of J.Edward and Clara (Speece) Lord. She married James Bower on September 6, 1942 in Kahoka, Missouri; he later died on March 24, 1981. Evelyn was a nurse at the former Jane Lamb Health Center and Bluff Terrace facility for 18 years. Prior to that, she was a nursing assistant at the old Mercy Hospital for 10 years. Evelyn enjoyed doing crafts, especially crocheting. Evelyn loved music, playing the piano and organ and loved to travel. Baking was a passion and she won numerous awards in baking contests. Evelyn is survived by two sons: James (Connie) Bower, Jr. of Camanche, and Tom (Judy) Bower of Hanover, Virginia; one daughter: Anita (John) Evans of Kingwood, Texas; 9 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, a great-great granddaughter; three sisters: Tia (Mike) McNulty of Coal Valley, Illinois, Anita Titus of Muscatine, Iowa, Alynne (Duke) Snyder of Wyoming, Iowa and one brother: Jack Peveler of Ft. Meyers, Florida. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother, and one sister. Memorials can be made to the First Baptist Church, Camanche, or the Mercy Living Center – North.
