Cousin Curly and I grew up in our "barrio" in Tempe, Arizona. We played all sort of games on the dirt streets in our end of town. Kick the can at dusk was one of the favorites. So were marbles, tops, and bottle caps. We went to the same small Spanish speaking Methodist Church. Later on when we both moved to California, we would visit each other from time to time. His work as a camera tech for theaters would on occasion bring him to Brentwood and we would supper together and talk about the "good ol' times in Tempe. When he moved to Iowa I would phone him just to keep in touch. I will miss him dearly.
With deep condolence to the Othon family for their loss. I will always remember my fishing
buddy when we fished in the lakes surrounding Phoenix. He was a fun loving person
with a good and generous heart. RIP Curly until we meet again.

We are so sad to hear about Gene, we so enjoyed spending time and talking to him at the last few Reunions for our Tempe High class. Gene and I were friends our Senior year, he was a sweet guy and so much fun. He would let me drive his car at lunch time so that I could practice driving, I will never forget how sweet that was. He was a good man and a great family man too. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his wife and all of his family, he will be always loved and missed.
