Was the sixth man on Gene’s bowling team with Mike ,Bubba , Kent , Joe and Gene. Friday night league and man did we have some fun . Best way to start the weekend and we were league champions a few times . Gene was our rock our go to guy . Yes I also remember playing baseball at the lot behind his house and fishing at the spillway and Aggie’s boat dock.My youth was greatly influenced by Gene and I thank him for being my friend.
When I was young, Gene played an important part in my life. Together, with a few close friends, we would ride our bikes up to Lock and Dam 13 to fish, or follow the railroad tracks up to the spillway by Eagle Point. We also spent countless afternoons playing baseball in the vacant lot behind his house. He was a very mild mannered guy and I don't think I ever saw him angry with anyone. These are just a few of the fond memories I carry with me, and I will always cherish the time we shared.”
I have very many good memories of Gene from my youth. He was always doing fun things with my brothers and me, often involving sports, and he shared his love of music with me, introducing me to new bands that were not yet part of the mainstream. Gene loved to joke, and I don’t recall ever hearing him speak in anger. Rest in peace Gene.
