Eugene Eberle's Obituary
Eugene M. Eberle, 85, of Camanche, died Saturday, January 3, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center, North Campus, Clinton. Funeral Services will be 11:00am, Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery with military honors being conducted by the Clinton AMVETS Post #28. Serving as pallbearers will be Richard Kallberg and Kevin Kallberg. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at the funeral home. Eugene Mansfield Eberle was born on November 19, 1923 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of William and Jennie (Clegg) Eberle. He married Isabel F. Rieger on June 9, 1947 in Clinton; she later died on December 19, 2007. Eugene was a 1941 graduate of Clinton High School. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Navy as a 2nd Class machinist mate. Eugene was an instrument mechanic in the powerhouse at DuPont for 35 years, retiring in 1982. Eugene was a member of the VFW, the Clinton AMVETS Post#28, and enjoyed playing golf with his buddies. Eugene is survived by two daughters: Patricia Kallberg of Camanche, Linda (Doug) Lueders of Camanche; one son: Allen Eberle of Clinton; four grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter. Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and two brothers. The family requests that memorials be made to the Clinton Humane Society.
