Emily Smith's Obituary
Emily L. Smith, 94, of Clinton, passed away, Thursday, July 9, 2015 at her home in Clinton.
Funeral Services will be 12:30pm, Saturday, July 11, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church. Visitation will be from noon until the service time Saturday at the church. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family.
Emily Louise Cozzolino was born on September 9, 1920 in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Caroline (Pasqualoni) Cozzolino. She was a 1938 graduate of Clinton High School. She married Millard R. Smith in 1942 in St. Louis, Missouri, he died February 2, 1988.
Emily worked at the Clinton Garment Factory prior to her marriage to Millard. She also helped her husband at Smith Bros. General Store.
Emily loved her Lord and savior Jesus Christ. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and served on Ladies Aide. She volunteered with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, enjoyed reading, planting flowers, feeding the birds, and watching the Chicago Cubs. She was generous with her time; gladly running errands for others and collecting for various charities. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Emily is survived by three sons: Millard Smith, Jr. of Clinton, Eugene Smith of Clinton, and Steve (Kathy Roseland) Smith of Clinton; two granddaughters: Jamie Kearney and Alison Smith; her brother: Leo Cozzolino of Clinton, several nieces and nephews, and a dear friend Glenna Frett of Clinton.
Emily was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two grandchildren, and two brothers.
