Eloise L. Burns' Obituary
Eloise L. Burns, 94, of Clinton, passed away Saturday, August 20, 2016 at the Alverno – Clinton.
Funeral Services will be 6:00 pm, Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
Eloise Leone Tallman was born January 19, 1922 in Manchester, Iowa, the daughter of Forrest and Anna (Nissen) Tallman. She married David J. Burns on April 9, 1949 in Oak Park, Illinois; he preceded her in death in 1988.
Eloise loved to recall her time spent living in the Chicago area and working at Western Electric during the WWII era, when she contributed to the war effort working in a technical piecework position assembling radar apparatus for aircraft. She left that fulfilling career after her marriage to make a home and raise their family in Clinton. Eloise was a homemaker and a loving, wife, mother, and grandmother.
She is survived by her two daughters: Donna Day of Bettendorf, Iowa and Diane Wheeler of Clinton; eight grandchildren: Doug Day of Eldridge, Iowa, Denise Day of Bettendorf, Iowa, David (Georgette) Wheeler of Davenport, Iowa, Renee Wheeler-Mak of Los Angeles, California, James (Christine) Wheeler of Beachwood, New Jersey, David (Jennifer) Burggraaf of Austin, Texas, Dustin (Jessica) Burggraaf of Nashville, Tennessee, and Lyndsey Wheeler of Clinton, Iowa; 12 great grandchildren: Amelia and Kaalin Wheeler, Monet, Taylor, and Matisse Makohoniuk, Allegra Wheeler, Jack, Will, and Bo Burggraaf, and Ava, Oscar, and Hugo Burggraaf; and many nieces and nephews.
Eloise was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Fern Warner and son-in-law Roger Wheeler.
Memorial may be made to the Pregnancy Center – Clinton.
