Elizabeth Gussak's Obituary
Elizabeth Emmons Gussak, 94, of Clinton, died Monday, April 8, 2013 at Oaknoll Retirement Residence in Iowa City.
Funeral Services will be 11:00am Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Burial will be in the Springdale Cemetery with military honors being conducted by the Clinton AMVETS Post#28. Visitation will be from 10:00am to 11:00am Wednesday at the funeral home.
She was born March 17, 1919 in Dewitt, Iowa to Richard and Beulah Brown Emmons.
Elizabeth graduated from the University of Iowa with a Master's Degree and was a registered dietician. She served in WWII from 1943-1946 with the hospital corps in the China Burma India theater and was a lifetime member of the CBI Veterans Association, serving as Past National Commander; and with the Iowa BASHA as past commander.
Elizabeth married Col. John Gussak in 1956. He died in 1972.
Elizabeth was a member of the American and Iowa Dietetic Association, the First Congregational Church of Clinton, PEO, VFW, University of Iowa Alumni Association, and Delta-Delta-Delta Omicron Honorary Home Economics Association.
Elizabeth is survived by 6 nieces, 1 nephew, and several great and great-great nieces and nephews.
