Elizabeth "Betty" Ann Dopson Forbish's Obituary
Elizabeth “Betty” Dopson Forbish was called home on Tuesday July 6, 2021 following complications from end stage renal disease. Betty was born on July 21, 1935 to Bernard and Theresa (Weiner) Laufenberg of Tomah, Wisconsin. Betty attended Tomah High School and graduated in 1952. She was married to Alvin Dopson from 1953-1975. She later married Eugene Forbish in 1980. She was married to him for 30 years before he passed away in 2010. She was employed by Clinton Community College as a receptionist for 22 years before retiring in 1994. Retirement didn’t mean slowing down; she and Gene kept active with their love of camping in their motorhome, spending winters in Gulf Shores, Alabama, but most importantly being surrounded by family. We were blessed to learn many valuable lessons from Mom during her 85 years. She will be missed for her brutal honesty, yet gentle heart. She was a strong woman of faith, with a touch of stubbornness that served her well as she raised five children on her own.
She is preceded in death by her: parents (Bernard and Theresa Laufenberg), four brothers (Louis, Donald, Art and Jerry Laufenberg and one sister (Elaine Foley), husband (Eugene Forbish), one son (Bruce Dopson), one daughter-in-law (Julie Dopson). Those left to honor her memory are her loving children: Dan (Deb) Dopson of Clinton, IA; Scott Dopson of Albany, IL.; Steve (Mary Jo) Dopson of Clinton, IA; Tom (Paula) Dopson of Clinton, IA; Danette (Marty) Temple of Oswego, IL.; two step-children Charles Forbish of Lexington, KY.; Barb (Randy) Knight of Fulton, IL.; 12 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and sister Doris Martin of Paris, TN.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30AM Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Clinton. Visitation will be held from 4:00PM to 7:00PM Monday, July 12, 2021 at the Clinton Chapel Snell Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial will take place at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed by visiting snellzornig.com.
Serving as pallbearers will be all of her grandsons: Jason Dopson, Travis Laurion, Joel DeJong, Ken Jager, AC Collier, Brandon Dopson, Benjamin Dopson, Nate Kreinbrink, Andrew Temple, and Derek Temple.
