Eleanor Lanning-Skornia's Obituary
Eleanor “Ellie” A. Lanning-Skornia, 48, of Fulton, Illinois, died Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at her home in Fulton after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Services will be 11:00am, Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00-8:00pm at the funeral home. Eleanor Ann Lanning was born on March 8, 1962 in Clinton, Iowa the daughter of Lloyd and Sharon (Holt) Lanning. She married John Skornia on December 20, 1990 in Clinton. Ellie attended St. Mary’s schools and graduated from Clinton High School in 1980. Ellie owned and operated J&E Marine in Clinton and Fulton with her husband John for over 25 years. She was known for helping traveling boaters to get to their hotels by taking them herself. She had a love of animals especially her birds. She enjoyed traveling and taking cruises. Ellie is survived by her husband: John of Fulton; one son: Tim (Joyce (Bumphrey)) Lanning of Low Moor, her four grandchildren which were the love of her life: Emma Ohsann, Avery Lanning, Aaden Lanning, and Erica Lanning; her parents: Lloyd and Sharon Lanning of rural Camanche; one sister: Jody Felderman of Low Moor, and one brother: Chris Lanning of Clinton; her aunts and uncles: Ken and Liz Holt of Clinton, Nick and Cindy Holt of Clinton, Tim Holt of Utah, Ed and Maria Lanning of St. Charles, Illinois, Don and Julie Lanning of California, and Anna Mae Reede of Akaska, South Dakota; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandparents. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the family.
